First A Near-Ace, Then a Drop *Into* the Water!
Rory McIlroy’s rollercoaster week continues.
In round 2 at the HSBC Champions, McIlroy had a near-miss at ace on the 12th hole. In the same round, he dropped his ball at the edge of a pond, only to watch it roll right into the water.
It’s a clip that’s almost destined to go viral—the potential for memeification is too good to pass up. Also notable, McIlroy hasn’t had good luck with water hazards in the past; at the Cadillac Championship last spring he threw his club into a lake following a shot that landed there first. A scuba diver had to retrieve the club.
This is all after he lost 10 pounds after a bout with food poisoning before the tournament started!
